Occupational Therapist

South Davis Community Hospital currently has an opening for an Occupational Therapist. All of our direct care services play an important role in our organization’s mission to bridge a continuation of medical care for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients with high-quality, proven services. Long Term Acute Care (LTAC), Pediatric LTAC and Pediatric High Acuity Skilled Nursing. Our occupational therapists treat: trauma, TBI, SCI, post surgical, respiratory illness, weakness, CVA, wound care and general physical rehabilitation patients. Hospital or Skilled nursing experience is preferred but not required. We have flexible scheduling options to choose from: 5-8’s or 4-10’s.
Qualifications:
Minimum of Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from a college or university with accredited Occupational Therapy program
Current, unrestricted license as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Utah
Current Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification through RQI
Demonstrates knowledge of rehabilitation techniques related to complex injuries
Communicates effectively and professionally in verbal and written interactions
Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail
Possesses the physical ability to perform job related duties which may require sitting, lifting, standing, bending, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing, and pulling

Current knowledge of safety issues needed in the treatment of patients, especially regarding body substance precautions and body mechanics to protect self, patients and personnel working with therapists
Ability to follow ethical guidelines outlined by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Responsibilities:
Performs occupational therapy evaluation and treatment of patients based upon physician orders/referrals
Completes a comprehensive evaluation using appropriate evaluation and assessment tools and procedures
Reviews patient records for current diagnosis, past medical history, precautions and contraindications
Establishes measurable goals and develops treatment plan to move the patient toward patient’s maximum level of independence and/or function
Regularly re-assesses effectiveness of treatment plan, progress of patient towards goals and the need for modifying goals or treatment
Communicates patient’s needs and progress to the treatment team, physician, person receiving services, family members, as part of the interdisciplinary team (IDT).
Consults with medical providers regarding patient evaluation and treatment, progress of the patient and discharge from treatment
Recommends and assists in securing special adaptive equipment for patient to improve function and incorporates the use of adaptive equipment to enhance the rehab program
Maintains and submits evaluation, treatment and billing documentation in the format and timelines required by the hospital facility, funding source, local, state and federal regulations
Supervises Occupational Therapist Assistants (COTAs) and Occupational Therapy Aides in direct patient care and patient-related activities
Attends, participates in and/or conducts internal staff development programs and meetings; obtains continuing education as required by company policy and regulations; maintains and enhances clinical practice skills
Performs other duties as assigned
