Speech-Language Pathologist

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in speech therapy, patient assessment, and early intervention strategies, particularly within adult & pediatric populations. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients’ communication and swallowing abilities through evidence-based practices and collaborative care. The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for screening, testing, evaluating, diagnosing and treating disorders of speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing. In addition, this position is also responsible for consulting, educating and training patients and their caregivers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs, with an emphasis on early intervention when appropriate.
  • Provide speech therapy services to pediatric patients, utilizing techniques grounded in physiology and anatomy knowledge.
  • Collaborate with medical teams to integrate speech-language pathology into overall patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families about communication strategies and exercises to support ongoing progress.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment sessions, and clinical notes in accordance with healthcare standards.
  • Stay current with advances in speech therapy practices, medical terminology, and relevant research to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Valid licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Utah.
  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. Education must be obtained from an accredited program. Degree must be verified.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). This position is not open for a CFY candidate at this time.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Current certificate of clinical competence
  • Proven experience working with pediatric populations and in school or clinical settings.
  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to speech and swallowing disorders.
  • Experience conducting patient assessments and implementing evidence-based speech therapy interventions.
  • Familiarity with early intervention programs and patient care protocols within healthcare environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families.

Preferred Qualifications

While on the job experience is provided, 1 year experience in the following areas: dysphagia, stroke, head trauma, diffuse brain pathology, neurologic diseases and disorders, developmental language delay, dysfluency, voice pathology, motor speech disorders, and cognitive disorders are preferred. Hospital experience working with patients (peds, adults or geriatric) who have tracheostomy’s and/or are vent dependent.
